Therapists Who Tarot

Tulum, Mexico

6 days, 5 nights

February 6 - 11

12 CEUs Available!!

Come join us in community

Are you a mental health clinician who is into tarot?

Would you like to deepen your relationship with the cards? And learn how to integrate them into your therapeutic work? (because there are plenty of clients who would love you to do just that)

But when it comes to your interest in tarot, do you feel like an outlier?

Can you imagine what it would be like to be seen, heard, supported, and understood by others who get it?

This retreat is dedicated to giving you the space, time and community to explore the tarot, both personally and professionally.

We want to offer you the opportunity for both learning and rejuvenation.

Your home for the retreat is Villa Xel Ha, a lush, tranquil oasis in Tulum, Mexico: A Caribbean beach town steeped in Mayan history. We will have the entire villa to ourselves, spread out over three houses that surround a stunning pool complete with wooden bridges and tropical gardens.

Our retreat location is walking distance to cafes, restaurants and boutiques, so you can spend your free time having fun exploring a new, hip place.

Or you can simply soak up the ambiance of the villa, giving yourself the rest and relaxation that you deserve.

This will be a safe space to gather in community with like-minded people. You’ll have the opportunity for growth, creativity, and self-reflection – all centered around tarot! We’ll be keeping the retreat small and intimate, with attendance capped at eleven particpants.

This retreat is designed for both introverts and extroverts. Our schedule is a mix of workshops and plenty of free time to use as you wish.

If you want to organize an excursion to Mayan ruins or hit the beach, you’ll have the time.

But if you just want to lay dozing by the pool or relax on your balcony reading, you can do that instead!

Your hosts will be Rebecca and Dreya, guides who have years of experience using tarot therapeutically and who have an abundance of resources to share with you.

(they are also collaborators on a newly -released tarot deck geared to therapists)

Rebecca and Dreya are committed to making this retreat transformational, with plenty of experiential and hands-on activities!

During the retreat, Rebecca will guide you along the imagery of the Pamela Colman Smith’s illustrations of tarot as you create your own cards using collage imagery.

And Dreya will be sharing a plethora of tarot-based therapeutic activities you can use in your sessions with clients.

Together, we’ll discuss and work through challenges you might have regarding incorporating tarot into your clinical work.

The purpose of this retreat is for us to grow alongside one another and connect more deeply in community…have meaningful and juicy conversations about tarot and its place in our lives…find encouragement…and have fun!

There will be a mixture of sessions and art activities, along with plenty of time to reflect, relax and renew your spirit in beautiful surroundings.

Our goal is for you to experience this magical jungle retreat space as an opportunity to go deep: to get creative, connect with community, and rejuvenate yourself.

We want you to have fun but also engage in contemplation in a lush natural environment rich with Mayan history.

This means we won’t be overscheduling every day. You’ll have the chance to spend your time exactly as you want, either relaxing at the villa or going out and about on adventures (the house manager can help arrange things like excursions and massages :)

Rebecca has been an art therapist for two and a half decades. She will guide you to a greater understanding of the tarot by means of art-making, using collage and other materials. Your inner artist has been waiting to come out and play - and creating your own tarot cards will allow you to deepen your understanding of tarot in a completely new and profound way.

Dreya has been using tarot with therapy clients for almost twenty years and is the author of “The Tarot Activity Book: A collection of creative and therapeutic ideas for the cards.”

If you’ve been hesitant to introduce tarot cards into your therapy sessions, then this is your chance to learn how to do so - with confidence!

Using tarot with clients isn’t about memorizing a book full of meanings or predicting the future.

Instead, Dreya will demonstrate how trusting your own intuitive wisdom will open you up to a whole new world, both for you and your clients. She will share practical, powerful therapeutic activities with the cards that you can immediately begin incorporating into your sessions.

You’ll also learn how to feel more comfortable introducing tarot to your clients, in terms of marketing. We’ll explore what to put on your website and in your informed consent form, as well as what you might actually say to your client in session about the cards. We’ll also discuss how to write notes that ethically reflect the work you are doing.

Tarot cards will add such a powerful dimension to your therapeutic work, and so we want you to leave the retreat feeling comfortable and confident as a member of the “therapists who tarot” family!

Accomodations

The villa has 5 private bedrooms, each with a king-sized bed and 3 bedrooms that can accomodate two people each, with single beds. Every room has its own bathroom and shower. Double occupancy is available for the private rooms for those of you who want to attend with a super good friend (or partner).
